Milind Soman Admits He Has Been 'Objectified', But Isn't Uncomfortable Being A 'Sex Symbol'
Milind Soman who faced a legal battle for 14 years for nude advertisement says he was objectified in the beginning of his career and is not uncomfortable being a sex symbol.
Ranveer Singh isn't the first celebrity who is battling a case for his nude photoshoot. Many years ago, Milind Soman had to fight a case for 14 long years after he posed naked for an advertisement.
It happened in 1995 when a case of nudity was filed by the social service branch of the Mumbai Police against Ambience Advertising for the ad. In the controversial ad, Soman and Madhu Sapre were both seen only in sneakers. The 27-year-old advertisement had scandalized India.
Just recently, he featured in a music video about 25 years after he made women swoon with Made In India. Once again, fans were left drooling. Soman says he has always been objectified, but he isn't uncomfortable being the sex symbol.
"Oh, I am not uncomfortable at all, it¡¯s my USP (laughs). Okay seriously, you have to know what are your strengths. It¡¯s a business. If I¡¯m uncomfortable with being a sex symbol, and being objectified, which I have been right from the beginning from my career, then I shouldn¡¯t be here. I was not bothered or uncomfortable with it, I was surprised, yes," he told Indian Express.
Meanwhile, Milind Soman is also gearing up for acting comeback in a film titled Lakadbaggha, in which he will essay the role of martial arts expert.
The Four More Shots Please actor told IANS, "It's exciting to be part of a unique action film like 'Lakadbaggha.' Every aspect of the story and characters is so unusual and well thought out. I loved how intrinsically Krav Maga as an exciting martial art is incorporated in the script."
About his role, he said, "I'm playing a martial arts instructor and Anshuman's father and the shooting schedule was intense. Working alongside passionate people has been something I have always enjoyed. It's a character I've never played before - a Bengali father and a martial arts trainer, it was loads of fun."
Do you know he was the first choice for Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander?
Deepak Tijori who then bagged the role of Shekhar Malhotra told Bollywood Hungama, "Milind Soman had bagged the part. 75% of the film was shot with him. Then the makers scrapped the film. It was shut for some time. I knew they had shot it as I had auditioned and I was not selected."
