'Mirzapur' Is In Trouble! Supreme Court Sends Notice To Amazon Prime For Maligning UP's Image
After Amazon Prime Video's 'Tandav' faced the wrath of a section of people who alleged that the show hurts the sentiments of Hindus, now anther web-series of the platform, Mirzapur, is facing trouble. Supreme Court has issued the makers and producers of the web-show. The apex court has sought response from the streaming platform as well as the makers of the show.
After Amazon Prime Video's 'Tandav' faced the wrath of a section of people who alleged that the show hurts the sentiments of Hindus, now another web-series of the platform, Mirzapur, is facing trouble.
After a resident of Uttar Pradesh, SK Kumar, recently filed a petition against the show for allegedly "maligning the image of Uttar Pradesh", now Supreme Court has issued a notice to the makers and producers of the web-show.

The apex court has sought response from the streaming platform as well as the makers of the show.

This comes two days after an FIR was filed in UP against the show for outraging religious sentiments and showing a particular section of society as goons.
The FIR was filed after a complaint by local journalist Arvind Chaturvedi against producers Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Bhaumil Gondaliya and Amazon Prime Video.
Chaturvedi, in his complaint, highlighted that the web-series shows abusive content, incest and illicit relations.

Meanwhile, even after the makers of Tandav snipped two scenes from the show that came under the scanner, fresh FIRs have been filed against its makers and cast in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The controversial scene showing Zeeshan Ayyub in the role of college student Shiva playing the Hindu god Mahadeva (another name for Lord Shiva) in a play and the conversation thereafter has now been removed. As per the edit now, viewers see Zeeshan's entry on stage as Mahadev amid cheers from the audience and the scene then abruptly shifts to police entering the campus to arrest a student.

In a sliver of hope, the Bombay High Court granted transit pre-arrest bail to director Ali Abbas Zafar, Amazon Prime India head Aparna Purohit, producer Himanshu Mehra and the show''s writer Gaurav Solanki. The relief was granted for three weeks to enable them to approach the concerned court in Lucknow, where an FIR has been registered against them for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
