'Movie Mafia Decides If Film Is Hit Or Flop,' Kangana Doubts Brahmastra Box Office Numbers
Taking a dig at Brahmastra box office collections, Kangana Ranaut has tweeted that it's the 'movie mafia' that decides whether a film is a hit or flop.
Actress Kangana Ranaut is known for daring to speak her mind when it comes to the Hindi film industry or politics. Often Kangana Ranaut gets embroiled in controversies either for her remarks or for her never-ending nepotism fight against Bollywood.
Lately, Ayan Mukerji's most ambitious project 'Brahmastra' has been garnering all attention since it hit theatres. Despite boycott calls on social media and mixed reactions from the audience and critics, the film managed to mint over a staggering Rs 200 crores during its opening weekend alone.
However, actress Kangana Ranaut had recently questioned Brahmastra's co-producer and her Bollywood rival Karan Johar regarding the box office numbers of the Ranbir-Alia film.
Not convinced by the reports about Brahmastra's success, the actress has expressed her desire to personally interview the filmmaker in order for her to understand the math behind such huge figures.
Amid the hype, the actress has once again posted about the box office collection of Ayan Mukerji's film Brahmastra. The 'Tanu Weds Manu' actress shared the latest figures of the box office collections of the movie and said that it has 'exposed' the alleged lies spread by the Brahmastra team.
The actress shared a screenshot of a tweet by AndhraBoxOffice.com, in which it stated that the film is a big failure with a total worldwide box office collection of Rs 246 crore as it was made with a huge budget of Rs 650 Crore.
Kangana Ranaut wrote, ¡°The film has been declared the biggest hit at mere ?144 crore (cost 650 cr) this is only to put in perspective how movie mafia works. It's they who decide which film will be declared a hit and which will be called a flop regardless of its collections or recoveries. They choose who to hype, who to boycott. Here they stand exposed.¡±
Meanwhile, after Dhakaad flopped, Kangana Ranaut is busy shooting for her next Emergency, a film based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The actress is playing the titular role of the late politician. She is not only acting but donning the director and producer's hat too.
Speaking of her second directorial project after 'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi', the actress said that she received "an encouraging response from the audience" for her first directorial, and "it was a blockbuster."
"I was tempted to direct another film but I had many acting assignments to complete. I do believe that I know the pulse of the audience from my interviews, my quotes and the terms that I have coined are now part of pop culture (she laughs). I do believe that the audience is looking for something which will stimulate their intellectual side and not just their sensual side," the Queen actress was quoted as saying by ANI.
