MP Minister Claims Ajay Devgn's 'Thank God' Depicts Hindu Gods 'Inappropriately', Demands A Ban
Madhya Pradesh education minister seeks ban on Ajay Devgn's film 'Thank God' claiming that it depicts Hindu Gods 'inappropriately.'
After a case in Uttar Pradesh and Hindu Fringe Group seeking a ban on Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra's upcoming movie 'Thank God' for mocking Hindu God 'Chitragupta', Madhya Pradesh education minister Vishvas Sarang has written a letter to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur seeking a ban on the comedy film for hurting religious sentiments.
In his letter to the Union minister, BJP leader Vishvas Sarang claimed that Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra's film allegedly depicts Hindu Gods 'inappropriately', according to ANI reports.
Education minister Vishvas Sarang's demand on banning the film comes days after a lawyer namely Himanshu Sharma filed a complaint in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur court accusing that the Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra film trailer insults Chitragupt, a Hindu deity.
The lawyer in his complaint stated that the film not only mocks Hindu religion but also misrepresents Ajay Devgn's character in the film. While Hindu Janajagruti Samithi sought a ban on the movie claiming that it the actors were seen mocking Hindu gods in the trailer of Thank God.
"We will never tolerate mockery of Chitragupta and Lord Yama of Hinduism in the name of freedom of expression. Was the censor board sleeping until this trailer was released?" Mohan Gowda, a spokesperson for the Hindu fringe group, was quoted as saying by India Today.

Reportedly, the group has even threatened to stage protests if the film is not banned by the State and Central Home ministries as it has hurt religious sentiments.
Moreover, amid the ongoing boycott trend, a few people have joined the 'Thank God ban movement' and have called for a boycott of the film.
Taking to Twitter a user wrote, "Wake Up Hindu. Get Ready to Boycott ??. Another Shameful act by Bollywood in upcoming movie ¡°Thank God¡± Do you think they will ever stop Insulting our Religion? Why mocking Hindu religion only?"

Ajay Devgn's film caught the negative attention of some people after the makers released the trailer of 'Thank God' on September 9, 2022.
The film also stars actress Rakul Preet in the lead role. She is seen donning the khaki uniform while actor Sidharth Malhotra plays her jealous husband.
