The Mumbai police also issued a statement about making these arrests because these celebrities were not wearing a mask or following social-distancing. The reason why the club Dragon Fly was raised was that it was open way past the set time limit.
The official statement issued by the Mumbai Police on this matter read, "offense has been registered u/s 188, 269, 34 IPC and u/s 51 NDMA against 34 persons at Sahar police station after the raid was conducted at 2.50 AM at Dragonfly pub, for keeping establishment open beyond the permissible time limit, not following Covid norms such as social distancing, not wearing a face mask."
Some reports also claim that even singer Badshah was present at the party but was able to avoid the raid by exiting through a back-door.
The celebrities were released on the notice of CrPC 41(a)(1) as stated in several reports.
This is yet another example of why everyone should follow COVID-19 guidelines.
