Tragedy stuck on actress Nupur Alankar and her family when her brother in law Kaushal Agarwal got stuck in the war-torn country of Afghanistan after the Taliban took over in August.
However, Kaushal managed to return home to Mumbai in November.
In an interview with TOI, Nupur was quoted as saying,
¡°We are all delighted. My sister, Jigyaasa, and their six-year-old twins aren¡¯t leaving him even for a second. For them, it¡¯s the biggest day of their life.¡±
Kaushal, whose experience was no less than a nightmare, shared how he managed to fly back home. He was quoted in the same report as saying,
¡°I was in Kandahar. I knew some locals because of my business and started befriending more people who guided me. I managed to book my tickets and procure an exit visa, which was quite difficult as the Indian embassy was shut. In an ideal scenario, I would have travelled to India via Kabul. However, given the situation, I flew from Kandahar to Iran and then to Dubai, from where I reached Hyderabad and finally Mumbai. In Iran, I had to communicate in sign language since I didn¡¯t know Persian. I hadn¡¯t even informed my family of my return till I reached Dubai, as I was quite sceptical. It was a long journey, but I feel fortunate to have reached my destination.¡±
He also revealed that the time apart from his family made him realise the true importance of family.
¡°The last few months in Afghanistan were challenging and scary, but I¡¯m glad I am back now. I have realised the importance of family and necessities like water, food, electricity, and bed. Inn sabki aur sabse zyada family ki keemat pata chali.¡±
For the uninitiated, Kaushal, a dry fruit business, had flown to Kabul on July 16 for work and unfortunately got stuck because of the turbulence.
