Pankaj Kapur Says Shahid Is 'One Of The Best Actors Of His Generation' & Kabir Singh Is Proof
Shahid Kapoor won the hearts of the audiences with his first film Ishq Vishk. With movies like Kaminey Haider and recently released Kabir Singh he has proved his acting prowess. His father Pankaj Kapur called Shahid one of the best actor of his generation.
With his first film (Ishq Vishk) itself, Shahid Kapoor won the hearts of the audiences. With his chocolate boy role, he made fans swoon and became an overnight sensation. That was just the beginning of stardom for Shahid Kapoor.
He did have a low phase in the following years when his films didn¡¯t score big at the box office. But his fandom has always been loyal and consistent. With movies like Kaminey, Haider and recently released Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor always proved his acting prowess.
So much so, that he has indeed made his father Pankaj Kapur proud. The veteran actor who is himself a stellar performer called Shahid one of the best actor of his generation. Pankaj was speaking at the Sahitya Aaj Tak 2019 event.
¡°My son has been wiser than me in terms of his career graph. He saw to it that he became a star first and starts to get all the roles that he wanted to do. I think it was a smarter move,¡± he said.
¡°We were trained in theatre so we always looked for characters and interesting scripts. We had our own journey, and this generation has its own journey. But I must also say, not because I am an indulgent father but he is his own generation¡¯s one of the best actors and he is has proved it with films like Haider, Kabir Singh and Padmaavat,¡± he added.
Shahid Kapoor, on the other hand, credits his father for his successful career. ¡°Nobody else had the guts to play these characters. Maybe because I am my father¡¯s son, I felt the need to play such flawed characters. You¡¯ve to make choices which people around you say aren¡¯t safe. You have to learn to find yourself as an artiste and not try and be like hundred other successful people,¡± Shahid had earlier told PTI.
In his next movie Jersey, Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing a cricketer. He has already started training for it. Jersey is the remake of namesake Telugu movie.
