Parvathy Calls Out Mammootty¡¯s Film For Promoting Misogyny, Trolls Tag Her As 'Cheap Feminist'
Malayalam actress Parvathy made her Bollywood debut alongside Irrfan Khan. She revealed how she was disappointed after watching Mammootty starrer Kasaba &ldquo. This seemingly didn&rsquot go down well with the superstar's fans.
Yesterday, Aamir Khan said that actors and artistes can help in changing the mindsets of people and that films can play an important role in that.
A few days ago, Karan Johar had admitted his ¡°mistake¡± of objectifying women through item songs in his film and had promised that he wouldn¡¯t do that from now on.
Glorifying eve teasing, calling stalking love and using women for sex appeal, Bollywood has, at various times, failed the women of India by glorifying misogyny. However, at the same time, we must admit that things are changing and for the best.
Malayalam actress Parvathy also admitted this fact in a recent statement. The actress who made her Bollywood debut alongside Irrfan Khan in Qarib Qarib Single revealed how she was disappointed after watching Mammootty starrer Kasaba.
¡°I had watched a film recently, to my bad luck. With all respect to the makers, the film disappointed me, as it featured a great actor spitting totally misogynistic dialogues. A lot of people feel cinema reflects life and society, so when a superstar mouths such a dialogue, people might think its sexy and cool,¡± she had said at the International Film Festival Of Kerala 2017, where she was one of the panellist of 'Women in Cinema Collective' session.

However, this seemingly didn¡¯t go down well with superstar Mammootty¡¯s fans, who slammed her. From being called a 'cheap feminist' to being asked 'Who are you to talk about Mammootty?', the actress faced backlash on Twitter.

Cinema can reflect all aspects of the society and all kinds of people. The good, the bad and the ugly. But no! It cannot glorify injustice and violence as "cool" & "mass" entertainment. I rest my case. This was a good day indeed! Thank you for sharing (and hurling) your thoughts!

I never criticised him. Simply expressed my disappointment in the movie. Thanks for being respectful in the way you put across the comment here. Very rare it seems here.

Welcome welcome- please kindly take my words out of context, remind me that I'm "just a actress" and curse at me. Here's to your sensitive chauvinistic blind hearts! ?Yours- that annoying feminist. pic.twitter.com/HSUMjHXIKg
Isn¡¯t this another example of misogyny? The trolls proved her right.
