After actor Priyamani and filmmaker Mustafa Raj were married in 2017, the pair was?bombarded with caste and religious remarks on the internet. An abundance of 'love jihad' comments were also directed at them.
Actor Priyamani has said that she and her husband, Mustafa Raj, continue to experience prejudice nearly seven years after their wedding owing to their different religions. In 2017, Priyamani wed Raj in an intimate ceremony but since their engagement, she claimed, they have been the target of ongoing hate speech online.

Priyamani told Filmfare, ¡°When I announced my engagement, I just wanted to share this happy moment with people whom I honestly believed genuinely cared for me. However, I don¡¯t know for what rhyme or reason, unnecessary hate started pouring in and the love jihad accusations followed. They even went to the extent of saying that, when we have kids tomorrow, they would join ISIS."
She voiced her dissatisfaction, acknowledging that she knew that being in the media and entertainment industry allowed people to say whatever they wanted about her. But why, she said, did they feel the need to attack someone who was unrelated to these issues? She acknowledged that the negative messages she received for two to three days hurt her, and she stressed that they didn't even know the person in question. Even now, she disclosed, if she shared anything on social media with him, the vast majority of the comments, nine out of ten would be about their caste or religion.
Priyamani¡¯s projects
Regarding her work, Priyamani most recently appeared with Kunchako Boban in Officer on Duty. She is also filming Jana Nayagan, the final movie starring Thalapathy Vijay. She will also appear opposite Manoj Bajpayee in The Family Man season 3.
