R Madhavan Says Gen Zs Are Far Wiser Than We Ever Were
While talking about Gen Z (born 1997 and 2012), he said, "So you're talking about understanding Gen Z, right? I will tell you, I have a Genz in my house. I'm amazed. Any parent will tell you that when three 14-15-year-old guys got together in a house, the only thing the parents used to say was, 'Kids, don't make so much noise, why are you guys yelling so much? But I'm telling you now, every parent I'm talking about will relate to what I'm saying. A teenager when their friends come home, you're surprised because they hardly make a noise."
He continued, "The only time you can hear their voice is when they are playing video games with multiple partners around the world or something like that. They are far wiser than we ever were, they are not in a hurry. I'm surprised at the frugal nature in which Gen Z is living. They are even more minimalistic. They don't want to buy a car. They don't want to buy houses. They are... you know... few dresses. They are moving on with life not getting stuck, It is amazing how peaceful they look and how connected they are. I'm feeling sorry."
Madhavan's statement has kickstarted a debate on Reddit. Here's what people have to say!
A lot of people were happy that at least someone praised the Gen Z instead of bashing them. It's refreshing
"Sorry Maddy can't agree with this, Gen-Z generation is just too Delulu (yes, Using a Gen-Z Term Here)," a user wrote. "I think this was quite refreshing to see, of course everyone may still have their own opinions but as a GenZ kid I think he¡¯s got it right for the most part," added another one. "He changed everyone's perspective," said a user.
Several others disagreed with R Madhavan's take on Gen Z
"They don't want to buy cars and houses ? They can't afford to buy cars and houses??", a user wrote. "Firstly, you can't generalise an entire generation. And "aajkal ke zamaane main...." Is a dialogue from every generation. Even in movies, this dialogue exists from black and white movies until now," another comment read. "I think his son is probably the one actually doing something worthwhile for being a gen Z," said another one. "Lmao he thinks the only gen Z is his son," joked another one.
