Ratna Pathak Shah Recollecting Her Dating Days Will Reinstate Your Faith In Old-School Romance!
1975 was a year when two talented and incredible souls met and instantly fell in love. For college students Ratna and Naseer, it was a play that sealed the deal. Sambhog Se Sanyas Tak, as it was called was a play that was directed by the iconic Satyadev Dubey.
The play must have earned them a lot of praises and accolades, but it was the cosmic connection and love, that connected them. As Ratna Pathak Shah once described,
"One day we were not even friends; the next day we were going out together."
That's the magic of universe and a moment that changes two lives forever. The two fell in love and apart from professionally collaborating for theater and films, the duo chose to tie the knot and claim an equal partnership in each other's life.
It's been more than three decades and they remain one of the most graceful couples we have today. While both have impressed us with some of the most powerful performances, it's their love story that has time and again made us realize that old-school love exists.
On the professional front, Ratna Pathak Shah is enjoying the success of Lipstick Under My Burkha. She recently came for the podcast of All India Bakchod to promote her film, Lipstick Under My Burkha and she ended up adorably leaking a small detail from her dating days with Naseeruddin Shah.
"These fancy restaurants once upon a time used to have two menu cards. One for the women and one for the men. The one for the woman didn¡¯t have the prices and the one for men did. This was the Taj. ( If I¡¯m allowed to say that). The first time we went together (Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak) we had like Rs 400. We went for this dinner and we just started out in life and we hardly had any money. By mistake, I got the menu card with the money and Naseer got the menu card without the money, so he was ordering left and right. With facial expressions, I was trying to warn him about the bill. And finally, when the waiter went away I told him and then we started counting our money."
Ah, anecdotes like these give us a valid proof that nothing ever can beat the charm of old-school romance.
