SS Rajamouli Screams His Lungs Out As RRR Bags The Oscar, Receives Standing Ovation For The Win

In the early hours of 13th March 2023, India woke up to the most anticipated win in the history of film achievements. The country brought home two Oscars from the 95th Academy Awards which took place in Hollywood¡¯s Dolby Theatre. Where The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short Film, RRR¡¯s Naatu Naatu song won in the Best Original Song category.

Expectedly, the internet is flooded with congratulatory messages for the filmmakers and it¡¯s one of the brightest days for Indian cinema.

In one of the videos that have now gone viral, RRR¡¯s director SS Rajamouli can be seen screaming his lungs out as the results were announced. He jumps in joy, hugs his wife and walks past a crowd that offers him a standing ovation. Watch this heartwarming moment of joy here:-

As Oscar won¡¯t change anything for me: SS Rajamouli

SS Rajamouli in an old video talked about anticipating an Oscars for his peppy track Naatu Naatu. He told the IFC Centre, ¡°Whether RRR wins an Oscar or not, my plan for the next film is not going to change. Oscar will be a real boost for morale for the (film¡¯s) unit and the country itself, but that¡¯s not going to change the way I work. I constantly need to upgrade myself as a filmmaker.¡±

¡°I have to update my tools of storytelling. That goes on the side. What I want to say and how I want to is not going to change.¡±

In one of a kind, Naatu Naatu¡¯s composer MM Keeravani sang his acceptance speech making it an interesting sight.

He stood alongside lyricist Chandrashekhar on the Oscars stage and said, ¡°Thank you, Academy! I grew up listening to carpenters and now, here I am with the Oscars. (Sings) ¡®There was only one wish on my mind, So was Rajamouli¡¯s and my family¡¯s! RRR has to win, the pride of every Indian! And must put me on top of the world!¡±

Keeravani said, ¡°Thank You, Karthikeya and Variance films for making this possible. Love you all! Thank you!¡¯ Chandrabose ended with ¡®Namaste¡¯.

For the unversed, RRR is the first feature film to bring India's first-ever Oscar in the Best Song Category with Naatu Naatu. Sung originally by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, the track was even performed live by them at the Oscars. Announced by Deepika Padukone, Ram Charan and JR NTR¡¯s doppelgangers danced alongside actress Lauren Gottlieb on this historic song.
