Samantha plays the character of Shakuntala, the daughter of Menaka and Viswamithra in the highly anticipated mythological drama that is slated to hit cinemas on February 27, 2023.
During the trailer launch of Shaakuntalam, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu spoke of the hardships she had faced in life and got emotional. The actress was seen wiping her tears at the Shaakuntalam event. Samantha's emotional state was caught on camera by the paparazzi and her fans.
Samantha said that despite the recent struggles in her life, her love for cinema is never going to change. She even said that she has gathered all her courage to attend her film's trailer launch event.

Samantha became emotional when director Gunasekhar was speaking at the event. Many of her fans and followers shared several video clip of Samantha crying on social media. They wrote, ¡°We¡¯re with you, Sam (sic).¡±
¡°No matter how many struggles I face in life, one thing won¡¯t change. That¡¯s how much I love cinema and cinema loves me back. I strongly believe that this love will grow manifold with Shaakuntalam," Samantha said while speaking at the event for Shaakuntalam.
