Sean Penn has said that Ukraine will win the war with Russia. He made his stand abundantly clear through his recent media appearances.
Appearing on MSNBC, Penn said Ukraine is ¡°going to win this thing¡it¡¯s a certainty.¡±
Lauding the unity of the nation, he said,
¡°It¡¯s an exciting moment in history¡They look at each other, and they say we¡¯re together.¡±
A few weeks back, the actor made headlines when he was in Ukraine to make a documentary film about Russia¡¯s invasion. He praised President Zelensky and said he is an inspiration for the American people.
Penn added,
¡°This is freedom of thought and true leadership that is just so moving. It¡¯s the kind of moving that we need to be able to get [to the US], which is borderline a kind of populist lap dance of a nation at this point. We¡¯ve got to get back on track together and realize that Ukraine, with all its diversity, has a unity we¡¯ve never seen in modern times."
During his appearance on Fox News, he discussed the war with host Sean Hannity.
Talking about Zelensky's courage and undeterred passion for his homeland, Penn said Ukraine will win, but the cost of war remains unclear.
¡°In him, I saw something I¡¯d never seen before.¡± He added: ¡°It is clear to me that the Ukrainians will win this. The question is at what cost.¡±
Sean Penn said it's sad that Ukrainians have to fight for their fundamental rights. He said,
He also added, ¡°The "Ukrainians are fighting to win, and they¡¯re fighting to win for the very thing we¡¯re able to do right now, to be free, to dream.¡±
In November last year, Penn had also visited Ukraine to prepare for the documentary. He also visited the country¡¯s military. Ukrainian Joint Forces Operation Press Service had also released the photographs with the actor.
Penn's passion for stories lies in his past documentaries, including the 2020 Discovery Plus film Citizen Penn, which recounted his incredible efforts to establish the non-profit organization Community Organised Relief Effort following the 2010 Haiti earthquakes.
The CORE organization, founded by Penn, also ensured free COVID tests in the US during the pandemic.
Last month, the actor threatened to ¡°smelt¡± his Oscars in public if Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky wasn¡¯t invited to the 94th Academy Awards.
