Shekhar Kapur Wants To Make 'Paani' For Sushant Singh Rajput, Fans Suggest Him Go For Crowd-Funding
Shekhar Kapur says if Paani is ever made, he would dedicate it to Sushant Singh Rajput. But it has to be made with partners that walk in humility, not in arrogance, he adds.
It has been confirmed after police interrogation that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to cast Sushant Singh Rajput in four of his films. Kangana Ranaut in an interview suggested that these films were Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani that eventually went to Ranveer Singh.
After Shuddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, Sushant Singh next film in his three-film contract with Yash Raj Films (YRF) was reportedly supposed to be Paani, to be directed by Shekhar Kapur.
After months of preparations, YRF backed out of the project for unknown reasons and the film got shelved. Kapur had earlier admitted that Sushant cried when the movie was shelved and that he was heartbroken.
"Jab film bandh ho gayi and he realised he wasn¡¯t doing the film, bohot roya woh. Main bhi roya. Woh rota tha toh main bhi rota tha saath-saath because I was also passionately and deeply involved with it. Humari zindagiyaan hi kuch aisi hoti hai - ups and downs. Aur yeh jo lafz hai - depression¡ Aisa nahi hai main keh raha hoon ki depression nahi hoti, main aisa keh raha hoon ki depression ek lafz hai jiske saath hum khel lete hai," he had said in an instagram live session.
Now, Shekhar Kapur has said that he will dedicate his ambitious project to Sushant Singh Rajput, if at all it ever gets made.
If you want to journey with the Gods, or your creativity, you have to walk each step in devotion. In humility. God willing #Paani will get made one day. If it does, I will dedicate it to Sushant. But it has to be made with partners that walk in humility, not in arrogance. ?????? pic.twitter.com/pWzTt04IbK

Fans encouraged Kapur to make the movie and suggested him to get it crowd-funded instead of depending on a producer.
Shekhar, there are many well educated people in India and overseas who'd love to support your most ambitious project if dedicated to #SushantSinghRajput

Idea: What if the budget for this entire movie were raised via crowdfunding? Screw big producers. It's doable - think abt it
Let¡¯s work together public to make SSR wish come true. Let¡¯s create #paani for #SSR let¡¯s contribute each one make groups, production post production funding all public do. If we each pay even amount of ticket that¡¯s just enough @shekharkapur sir let¡¯s do this for SSR

I wish you get the partner very soon. Incase if you do not find any good partner do make this movie with public support. Public is a very good investor, this side of us is only utilized by Share Market. Its time that Bollywood shd also try.

Sir, we will support you for this project in the memory of sushant. Please seek crowd funding. Public will then speak and Give a tight slap on these snooty and arrogant production companies who forgot that it is the public who elevated them to where they are.

Shekhar had earlier revealed Sushant was quite excited to be a part of this project.
"He was bouncing up and down, so excited that he was going to work with me and do Paani. The great thing about Sushant that I noticed was that acting did not stop with rehearsing the lines or reading the script or doing the movements. His interest went way beyond... Every time I had a meeting with the production designer or the DOP or VFX team, he was there," he had earlier said.
