'Sherni', 'Sardar Udham' Have Been Shortlisted For India's Official Oscars 2022 Entry
The 94th Academy Awards will honor the best films that have been released since March 1, 2021. The official ceremony will be at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, on March 27, 2022.
Vicky Kaushal's Sardar Udham and Vidya Balan's 'Sherni' have made it ?to the shortlist of films for India¡¯s official entry to Oscars 2022. Both the films have been included in the list of 14 movies.
The films were sent as India's official entry for the 94th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
'Sherni' and 'Sardar Udham,' released on streaming platforms, won the audience's hearts. Sherni was headlined by actor Vidya Balan who essayed the role of a forest officer trying to resolve man-animal conflicts.
The movie was supported by a stellar supporting cast, including actors like Sharat Saxena, Mukul Chaddha, Vijay Raaz, Ila Arun, Brijendra Kala, and Neeraj Kabi.
In an exciting turn of events, actor Neeraj Kabi in an earlier interview with ETimes has previously asked Neeraj Kabi for his reaction of 'Sherni' was to be sent as India's official entry for the Oscars, and he had shared,
"I know that we've all put so much effort into this film. This has been a fruit of labor, so let's wait and see what comes out of it. I cannot say anything right now, whether it is Oscar-worthy or if it will win awards."
On the other hand, Shoojit Sircar¡¯s ¡®Sardar Udham¡¯ revolved around the true story of revolutionary Sardar Udham Singh.
Vicky Kaushal plays the titular role in this historical drama recently released on Amazon Prime Video.
