They say it right when they say that your upbringing and experiences in life shape up your personality. For what Sonu Sood is today, the credit goes to his parents, who were equally humble and down to earth.
He always aspires to make his parents proud.
For the unversed, while Sood spend most of his youth in Nagpur, he hails from a small city, Moga, in Punjab. Now his hometown has honoured his mother and named a road after her. Feeling immensely proud, Sood shared the news on social media and called it the most important chapter of his life. He says it is a dream come true.
"A visual that I dreamt of all my life. Today a road in my home town Moga has been named after my mom: ¡°Prof. Saroj Sood Road¡±. The same road by which she traveled all her life. From home to college and then back home. This will always be the most important chapter of my life. I am sure my mom and Dad must be smiling somewhere from the heavens. I wish they were around to see this. I thank Mr.Harjot Kamal, Mr.Sandeep Hans and Mrs.Anita Darshi mam for making this possible. Now I can proudly say my most favourite place in the world is ¡°Prof.Saroj Sood Road, (sic)", he wrote.
He had earlier said that when he saw migrant workers walking on foot for several kilometers to go home, he had a strong urge to help them. That's how his parents raised him.
"I decided I am not going to sit at home and crib about it. My mom used to teach kids free of cost, my dad used to organize langars outside his shop. I was raised with those values in Punjab. My mother used to says that ¡®if you can¡¯t help anyone then don¡¯t consider yourself successful¡¯. My background, the values my parents imbibed in me are the reason I am doing this," he told The Indian Express in an interview.
Sood's father was used to run a garment shop in Moga called Bombay Cloth House. His mother was a professor.
