SS Rajamouli Appears On Seth Meyer's TV Chat Show, Talks About RRR¡¯s Appreciation In The West
As Naatu Naatu wins Golden Globe Awards, SS Rajamouli talks about RRR's appreciation from the west on Seth Meyer's talk show.
¡°SPEECHLESS. Music truly knows no boundaries¡±, tweeted SS Rajamouli as he celebrated the win of his song Naatu Naatu at the Golden Globe Awards. The song from the film RRR bagged the ward for Best Original Song category. As the veteran director eyes for an Oscars nomination, Rajamouli appeared on US¡¯s popular TV show, ¡®Late Night with Seth Meyer¡¯.

On the popular talk show, SS Rajamouli addressed how the initial appreciation from the west appeared to him as just NRIs were watching RRR.
He said on Meyer¡¯s show, ¡°Exciting is an understatement. We are on top of the world. I essentially make films for Indians in India and across the globe. When we started getting appreciation from the west, our initial thought was that ¡®These guys must be the friends of our Indians who went to watch the film¡¯."

"Then as it started increasing when celebrities, story writers, film directors started tweeting about it, talking about it on social media. They started championing the film by word of mouth. We thought, ¡®Okay, this is growing much more'. Then it released on Netflix and it was on the top 10 list for 15 consecutive weeks. It released in Japan, it's still running in Japan. It is the highest-grossing Indian film ever in Japan. Oh my God," he added.

RRR¡¯s actor Ram Charan will dance on the Oscars stage if he wins the academy award.
When asked whether Charan will groove on the Oscars stage with Jr NTR if ¡°Naatu Naatu¡± gets nominated, he said on the NBP podcast, ¡°Of course, if they are going to give us an award, why not. We will do it 17 times back again.¡± For the unversed, India¡¯s 11 films are running to score a nomination at the 95th Academy Awards which will be announced on January 24.
SS Rajamouli¡¯s father and RRR¡¯s writer Vijayendra Prasad revealed what made this film a global success.
He told India Today, ¡°Once we saw the reactions from the screening there, I thought we had a fair chance. It was a big surprise but a pleasant surprise.¡± Talking about the showers of appreciation, he said, ¡°Someone in the clouds might be smiling. God had smiled. It¡¯s just his blessing.¡±

About Naatu Naatu, Vijayendra quoted, ¡°It¡¯s a tailor-made song to get claps in the theatre because any sequence where we get one up on the British is going to get claps.¡± Prasad further shared his inspiration behind backing RRR. ¡°The inspiration for making a story on our lead heroes is Gandhiji on the currency! Money is the inspiration. Make a good movie and make good money¡±, he concluded.
