Stree 2 dethrones SRK's Jawan! Fans praise stellar writing and acting as it becomes Hindi cinema's biggest hit

Indian horror films are bad, many argue. Even comedy films have not performed well at the box office in recent times. Horror-comedy, however, is a not so much explored genre that has not been extensively explored. After the massive success of the first part, Stree 2 has caused a havoc at the box office. A month after its release, it continues to shatter records. The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film has now become the highest-earning film ever in Hindi.

Stree 2 has claimed the throne as the highest-earning film ever in Hindi language, thus surpassing the record set by Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. The net Hindi collection of Stree 2 is Rs 583.35 crores, while Jawan in Hindi minted Rs 582.3 crores. As the film also starring Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in pivotal roles achieved this feat, fans credit the film's success to its stellar writing and performances.

Fans are ecstatic

"I like SRK but still this makes me so happy. It gives hope that it¡¯s not always one need superstars to give blockbusters , content and presentation can itself do wonders when done right," said one of them. For the unversed, directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 has reportedly been produced on a budget of Rs 130 crore. The Atlee directorial Jawan on the other hand was produced on the budget of Rs 370 crores.
