Twitter is divided after Swara Bhasker slams food blogger's 'proud to be a vegetarian' on Bakr-Eid
Swara Bhasker slammed food blogger Nalini Unagar over her proud to be a vegetarian post on Bakr Eid. Now, she is getting trolled for comparing drinking cow milk with slaughtering of animals for meat.
Non-vegetarian vs vegetarianism - which is better or less cruel? The age-old argument continues even today. The debate has been ongoing for decades, if not centuries. Everyone has their own reasons for choosing what to eat, and the debate on which is better for our health and the environment continues to be a hot topic. Today, on the occasion of Bakr-Eid, one such debate has kickstarted again.
Swara Bhasker slams food blogger's 'proud to be a vegetarian' on Bakr Eid
A food blogger posted a photo of her vegetarian meal consisting of fried rice and Tofu and wrote, "I'm proud to be a vegetarian. My plate is free from tears, cruelty and guilt." Soon she was slammed by Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker who called out "smug self righteousness of vegetarians" and pointed out how dairy products are also an example of cruelty.

Swara Bhasker wrote, "Honestly¡ I don¡¯t understand this smug self righteousness of vegetarians. Your entire diet is made up of denying the calf its mother¡¯s milk.. forcibly impregnating cows then separating them from their babies & stealing their milk. You eat root vegetables? That kills the whole plant! Please relax with the virtue signalling just because it¡¯s Bakr Eid!"
Food blogger Nalini Unagar responds
In response to Swara's tweet, the flood blogger Nalini Unagar (@NalinisKitchen) sarcastically tweeted a photo of ice cream and wrote, "The calf did not drink its mother's milk today because we have to eat ice cream. The calf will go to bed hungry today because we have to eat ice cream. The calf's mother will have to undergo artificial insemination again today because we have to eat ice cream. The male calf will be slaughtered today because it cannot give milk."

In another tweet, she wrote, "My question to those who always argue, 'Why do you eat vegetables? Plants also have life.' If the house is on fire, would you save the dog inside the house or the plant? If both have life and both are important, why don't you save the plant first? Plants don't go through child labour pain; animals do. Plants don't suffer from pain; animals suffer. Plants don't have brains; animals do. Think twice, are plants and animals the same?"

"Exactly, the food is just a choice and no food is inferior to the other," said a user. While some people sided with her, several others disagreed and trolled her. "I totally agree that depriving a calf from her mother's milk is cruel But, because a calf is deprived milk, so you are justifying the slaughter of millions of animals that too in a very brutal manner ¡ You guys have issue with cracker noise scaring your pets and Holi Colors causing itching to animals, but you have no issue and in fact celebrate the festival in which animals are killed, you people even eat that meat You are going to be a mother, stop justifying such cruelty for your agenda, learn to call out the wrong, the child deserves a good parenting," a user wrote. "Also may be denying the calls it's mothers milk is okay but taking away his mother for your Insta posts saying lip-smacking biryani is worst. Also roots regrow unlike animals," said another one.
