The Scar On Vicky Kaushal's Face In 'Sardar Udham' Is Real; Actor Shares How He Got 13 Stitches
Vicky Kaushal reveals he got 13 stitches on his cheek before the shoot of Sardar Udham Singh began and how director Shoojit Sircar reacted to it.
Four days before the shoot of Sardar Udham began, Vicky Kaushal got injured on the sets of Bhoot: The Haunted Ship. He got thirteen stitches on his cheek. The first thing he did was - he sent a picture to director Shoojit Sircar.
Vicky Kaushal said at the trailer launch event, "Shoojit da responded, 'Don¡¯t worry, you come with the stitches, Sardar Udham Singh will have stitches'".
Not many people know that Kaushal had replaced Irrfan Khan in the film.
Khan, who was Sircar's close friend, was supposed to essay the role of the forgotten freedom fighter who avenged Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919 by shooting the man responsible for it, Michael O¡¯Dwyer, who was also the former lieutenant governor of Punjab.
After his death, Shoojit said that he can never get over Irrfan's loss.
The trailer of Sardar Udham was released yesterday and Vicky Kaushal has left the audiences bowled over with his portrayal of Sardar Udham Singh.
"Sardar Udham to me is not just a film, it is a dream come true. It took years of in-depth research to unearth and share with the world the valiant story of a martyr who sacrificed his life to avenge India¡¯s most dreadful tragedy," said Shoojit Sircar as the trailer was launched.
Vicky said, "I look forward to sharing an intriguing page from the history of India¡¯s freedom struggle through this film. This is one story that needs to be shared not only in India but also across the world and I am happy that, with Amazon Prime Video, Sardar Udham will cut through geographies and take a piece of our history across the world."
The film is set to release on Oct 16 on Amazon Prime Video.
