Showik Chakraborty was arrested on Sep 4 in drug-related charge of illicit drugs financing does not apply in his case.
According to a Pinkvilla report, the Supreme Court had rendered the evidence submitted by NCB as inadmissible
However, he still spent three months in jail. This very fact is not going down well with people on the internet. Here's what people are saying.
"It¡¯s taken 3 months for court to realise that #RheaChakraborty brother #showikchakraborty was not funding drugs. A young man shares small q of weed, thrown in jail, shamed, his future jeopardised for zero reason," wrote a user.
"Really sad! This was a kid- and they were callous enough to play with his life. Sincerely hope #showikchakraborty bounces back," she said.

Get the culprits!!! https://t.co/UwbK9VcS1O
We loved the idea of loving Sushant Singh Rajput so much that we victimised #RheaChakraborty and #ShowikChakraborty unapologetically and mercilessly.

Courts says !! trading of drugs charges does not apply against Showik Chakraborty#TrustingCBI4SSRJustice
While granting him bail on Dec 2, the special NDPS court judge G B Gurao observed that the ingredient of Section 27-A of the NDPS Act does not apply to Showik's case.
"Further, the court has to see that there are reasonable grounds for believing that accused is not guilty. As discussed above, the ingredient of Section 27 is absent in the case of applicant (Showik)," the court said.
Showik was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including Section 27-A, which deals with financing illicit traffic of drugs and harbouring offenders. A person can be punished for 10 to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under the act.
