After Failure Of Liger, Vijay Deverakonda Likely To Return Rs 6 Crore To Producers Of The Film
Vijay Deverakonda is going to return Rs 6 crore as compensation to Liger producers amid box office disaster.
Vijay Deverakonda's 'Liger' has miserably failed at the box office amid the ongoing boycott trend on social media. The film that created a huge buzz ever since its announcement marked Deverakonda's Bollywood debut.
However, the actor failed to make an impression with his performance leading to its disastrous run in theatres across India and resulting in heavy losses for makers of the movie.
Reports suggest that makers have spent Rs 100 crore to make the sports drama 'Liger', which also stars Bollywood actress Ananya Panday.
Now, as per a News18 report, due to the film's underwhelming performance at the box office, south star Vijay Deverakonda has decided to return a staggering Rs. 6 crore from his remuneration to support the producers of the film.
Moreover, the disastrous performance of Liger has also impacted Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming movie 'Jana Gana Mana.'
According to reports, 'Liger' director Puri Jagannadh is once again helming Deverakonda's next and both the actor and the director have decided to forgo their fees for their next collaboration.
Reports also suggest that Vijay Deverakonda might take a chunk of the profits of 'Jana Gana Mana' if the movie turns out to be successful at the box office.
Meanwhile, 'Liger' which also features boxing legend Mike Tyson in a crucial role, received poor reviews from movie critics as well as audiences. Despite promoting their movie on a massive scale, Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday's film Liger could not make a mark in the theatres.
Moreover, the film was recently rated the worst by IMDb in its list of worst rated movies this year. It went on to beat films like Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan, Dobaaraa and Shamshera.
Meanwhile, Charmme Kaur, who is a co-producer of Liger is taking a break from social media. Te Liger co-producer announce her break on Twitter.
