"We need to understand that we are a very young nation. It is only 76-77 years old. After so many years of oppression, the Mughals came, the Dutch came, then the British came. After hundreds of years, we received so-called independence. But was that really independence? We got stuck in the colonial hangover that they left behind. So, my belief is that today, Hindus finally have reached a position where they can demand their identity in their own country. That identity... the concept of identity... we never really pay attention to it. The concept of sentiment... many of the world's greatest wars have been driven purely by sentiment. Most of the major decisions we make are driven by how we feel."
"Even if a war occurs today between two countries, it depends on how the King or Prime Minister of that particular nation or kingdom feels about it. We don¡¯t give value to feelings, to oppression, or to sentiments".

Host Sushant Sinha then asks him, "If you feel that Hindus didn¡¯t gain true freedom back then, and only received freedom in concept as you say, but now they feel they have finally achieved it, what is the reason behind this change?" Massey responded, "Because, finally, they are feeling pride in embracing their identity. They are getting an opportunity to express their views and opinions. That¡¯s what I think; this is how I feel, though I might be wrong. We¡¯re talking about the colonial hangover... the British left, leaving us with the English language. Now, our regional languages, our culture, our festivals, our identity ¡ª we want to embrace it fully, especially the Hindus. And I don¡¯t see anything wrong with that."
Vikrant Massey trolled for his statement

Reacting to his statement, one of the users took to X to write, "So we haven't been celebrating Hindu festivals post independence? Or even pre independence? Just curious. So what have I been doing as a Hindu going to temples, conducting poojas at home and in my temples? I have never felt any danger practicing my faith openly ever."

Another one asked if he is doing it for his forthcoming film The Sabarmati Report. "Hindus have boycotted his films and are roasting him before every release because of his old Hinduphobic posts. Phat kar haath mein aa gayi, so he¡¯s activated Damage Control Mode.
He has a new movie coming up and he is desperate. It's a temporary affection that will vapourise. ?
