Yami Gautam Shares Why She Is 'Under-Utilised' While Those With 'Lack Of Talent' Make It Big
Yami Gautam says she is underrated and underutilised because she doesn't engage in PR activities. She lets her talent speak for itself.
A few months ago, people on Twitter were speculating why Ananya Panday is getting movies despite giving back-to-back flops. The star kids continue to make headlines and remain in the news whatsoever.
And then, there are other actors who are great at what they do but they hardly get a fair chance of showcasing their talent. Sometimes, they struggle to get good films or meatier roles.
Yami Gautam is getting praised for her performance in OMG 2, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi. Seeing her on the big screen delivering another great performance, this fan wondered why she remains to be underrated/under-utilised in Bollywood.
Responding to this user, Yami penned down an emotional note on why people think she is under-utilised and why actors with a lack of talent make it big in the industry.
"Some people find success overnight, some people have to prove themselves persistently for years. Some people are great at marketing their talent (or lack of it), some people only want their talent to speak," she wrote.
She said she lacks the skill to market herself or rather she doesn't want to do it.
"As an actor, I just know how to act and work exceptionally hard on identifying good scripts and versatile characters, that¡¯s my talent. I don¡¯t understand or get involved much with the marketing of my talent. Unfortunately for the majority of our industry, everything relies on the marketing of a person or project and not on the depth of a script or character."
"Maybe that¡¯s the reason why people feel I am under-utilised. Anyways, Thanks so much Aavishkar for your kind words, it¡¯s truly very encouraging. I will get there eventually, slowly but steadily, one film at a time," Yami wrote.
Fans are only showering her with love in the comments.
A fan praised her for calling spade a spade. "Thank you @yamigautam for exposing, pr made stars, and star kids who think they got overnight success but fail in the run, you have already proved your immense talent and have some hardcore fans now".
Some others lauded her for not following the trend. "You go girl & thank you for not blindly following the cookie-cutter celeb mentality of over-marketing themselves. Hope to see you more on good projects both on the OTT & the silver screen. People like you encourage youth to still dream & take up art as a serious career."
