Zeenat Aman Gives It Back To Mumtaz For Mocking Her Failed Marriage & Calling Her 'Cool Aunty'

Zeenat Aman has responded to Mumtaz's comment about her failed marriage. Giving it back to the veteran actress who said Zeenat should be the last person to give relationship advice as her own marriage was a "living hell", Zeenat said that she doesn't "tear down her colleagues."

In an interview with HT, Zeenat Aman said, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I¡¯ve never been one to comment on others personal lives or tear down my colleagues, and I'm not going to start now."

While talking to Zoom, Mumtaz took at dig at Zeenat and said, "Zeenat should be careful what she is advising" as her own marriage was a "living hell". She also said that the veteran actress "should be the last person doling out advice on relationships."

Mumtaz said this in respect to Zeenat's recent Instagram post about live in relationship. The Satyam Shivam Sundaram wrote, "If you¡¯re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you LIVE TOGETHER before getting married! I¡¯m aware that Indian society is a little uptight about ¡°living in sin¡± but then again, society is uptight about so many things! Log kya kahenge? (What will people say?) (sic)."

Mumtaz said that Zeenat wrote in favour of live-in relationships to "sound like a cool aunty."

"She (Zeenat) has all of a sudden come into this huge social media popularity, and I can understand her excitement about sounding like a cool aunty. But giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following," Mumtaz said.

For the uninitiated, Mumtaz and Zeenat Aman had both worked together in Dev Anand starrer Hare Rama Hare Krishna.

Zeenat Aman married Sanjay Khan in 1978, despite knowing that he was already married and had three children, but the marriage didn't last long as Khan passed away in 1979. It was reported that Sanjay Khan used to beat her mercilessly.

Zeenat then married actor Mazhar Khan in 1985. The couple remained together until Mazhar's untimely demise in 1998. Speaking about her unhappiness within the marriage, she told on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal in 1999, "Mazhar never wanted me to grow as an individual or as an artist. He always wanted me to be with the kids and be at home. During the very first year of marriage I realised I had made a huge mistake, but I decided to live by it and make it work. I tried to make it work for another 12 years. There was no light at the end of the tunnel for me. There was not a single moment of happiness or joy during those 12 years. But I still tried making it work."
