According to Sacnilk, Chhaava earned Rs 40 crore on Day 10 (February 23). This is about a 9% dip from its previous day's collections which was Rs 44 crore. The domestic gross currently stands at Rs 391.35 crore, India net at Rs 326.75 crore and with an overseas gross of Rs 53.15 crore, Chhaava¡¯s worldwide total stands at Rs 444.5 crore. In the next two days, the film will easily cross the coveted Rs 500 crore mark with ease.
Chhaava¡¯s plot summary
After Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's death, his son Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj takes leadership of the Maratha Empire. Despite Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb expecting Maratha's resistance to collapse, Sambhaji leads a series of attacks, including a successful raid on Burhanpur and a fierce battle with a lion. As Aurangzeb plans a large military campaign against the Marathas, internal conspiracies and betrayals occur within the Maratha court.
Sambhaji Maharaj uses guerrilla tactics to resist the Mughal forces, but his position weakens due to defections. Eventually captured and tortured by Aurangzeb, Sambhaji remains defiant, declaring the Maratha struggle for self-governance. The Mughal Empire eventually collapsed, leading to the rise of Swaraj. The film is an adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant.
Other than Vicky, Chhaava is a Laxman Utekar directorial which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna and Diana Penty among others.
