¡°About 26 days after the act was shot, and a few days before it was to be telecast, I was told my part was being dropped. They asked me to prepare something else. I was told I could mimic Rahul Gandhi, but later they asked me to not mimic him either,¡± Indian Express quoted the comedian as saying. He added that the channel feared his act might receive a lot of backlash from people.
¡°I want to send this message to the channel that Modi ji himself enjoys his mimicry. He told me, ¡®If you wish to, you should mimic me, just take care that the crowd should be entertained.¡¯ He believes mimicry is an art. Modi ji in fact, said that there should not be in any discrimination, that powerful people are not poked fun at, and only rest of the sections are the subject of one¡¯s humour,¡± he added.
He said that he has mimicked a lot of politicians in front of them as well.
Comedian-actor Vir Das also supported Shyam on the issue.
