In 2012, during the promotional run of Housefull 2, Akshay played cupid for his former co-star, Asin, and Rahul Sharma, the founder of Micromax. What followed? A love story straight out of a rom-com.

Rahul Sharma shared the behind-the-scenes story on Raj Shamani¡¯s podcast, spilling the tea on how Akshay Kumar played a key role in bringing him and Asin together. "We were going for an India vs Pakistan match in 2012," Rahul explained. "Akshay¡¯s movie Housefull 2 was about to release, and Micromax was sponsoring the Asia Cup. Akshay suggested we meet, and that¡¯s how it all began."

Things, however, took an unexpected turn. Rahul revealed, ¡°Akshay said she¡¯s very simple, down-to-earth, someone who comes, does her work, and goes back. He gave her number to me and mine to her, saying we shared similar values and backgrounds.¡±

How Akshay made Asin and Rahul meet each other

In typical Akshay Kumar fashion, the actor disclosed his matchmaking tactics in a 2016 interview with Hindustan Times. "I¡¯ve been hiding this for three-and-a-half to four years. Yes, I got them to meet and Jacqueline [Fernandez] was also a part of it, but she didn¡¯t realize it because I played it slyly," Akshay admitted. He added, ¡°It was during Housefull 2 and we were in Delhi. Don¡¯t laugh, but we were playing hide and seek, and I made the two of them hide together in one cupboard. That is how it started.¡±
