Exclusive: Allu Arjun¡¯s Pushpa 2 fails to woo audience at Kerala box office, here¡¯s what went wrong
Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 has failed to live up to expectations at the Kerala box office. This is a major surprise as the mass hero is quite popular in this market. Here is a look at what went wrong with the biggie in Kerala.
Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, has emerged as a massive blockbuster at the worldwide box office and received rave reviews. It has collected over Rs 1000 crore so far and outperformed biggies such as Pathaan and Jawan. The actioner, however, has failed to live up to expectations in Kerala. This is quite surprising as ¡®Bunny¡¯ enjoys a strong fan following in the market. Moreover, Fahadh Fassil¨C a popular name in Mollywood¨C essays a key role in the biggie. So, what went wrong?
Here¡¯s why Pushpa 2 failed to work its magic in Kerala
Pushpa 2 has failed to live up to expectations at the Kerala box office despite Allu Arjun¡¯s popularity in the state. The film has collected approximately Rs 16 crore in this market so far and is likely to end its run on an underwhelming note. It will not be able to meet the high standards set by biggies such as Baahubali 2 and KGF 2.
According to Manonbala Vijayabalan¨C a trade tracker¨C the mediocre response isn¡¯t too surprising as the Malayalam audience prefers ¡®content-oriented¡¯ films.
¡°The Kerala audience prefers content-oriented movies compared to commercial movies. Pushpa 2 is a purely commercial flick, hence the numbers are too low in the region,¡± he told Indiatimes.
Fahadh Faasil association with the film too was expected to work in its favour. However, many fans were disappointed with his role in Pushpa 2 as they felt he had been under-utilised in the biggie. This too seems to have gone against the second instalment of the Pushpa franchise in Kerala
