Getting a chance to work with a talented actor like Vicky Kaushal is really good for my growth.
Talking about the sudden success, she said, ¡°I am just working really hard and appreciating the kind of love and support that everybody is giving. It¡¯s very overwhelming and it¡¯s giving me that drive to do more. Of course, the success of Pachtaoge means a lot to me. I have done something different, it¡¯s not a dance number, Its performance-oriented acting. It¡¯s a different side of me and I am really happy that people are so positive in accepting that. Also getting a chance to work with a talented actor like Vicky Kaushal is really good for my growth. It gives me a lot of ambition.¡±
I knew my time will come, but didn¡¯t know when and how.
We asked if she ever thought she will get this kind of success and she replied, ¡°I have always maintained positivity through my struggle. I always told myself that my time will come and when my time will come, it will come in the time where I am ready as a performer, as an actor, when my skills will be good enough to impress the audience and the audience will be ready to accept me. I knew my time will come, but didn¡¯t know when and how. This moment right now, everything is going so well. Everyone is appreciating my acting in Batla House, my songs are touching the roof, people are getting inspired. This was my goal from day one. This has been my intention from day one to kind of exert good intention and be an inspirational artist and just do things from my heart, whether it¡¯s a dance number or music video. I think the audience can feel my positivity and its translating."
Every rejection of mine in last four years has left me heartbroken.
Well, her journey wasn¡¯t easy, she too has faced a lot of rejection but that kept her motivated, ¡°Of course, every rejection of mine in last four years has left me heartbroken, but it also gave me the fire to move forward. Every rejection increased my drive and ambition to prove everybody wrong and naturally that happened. I never really wanted to focus or indulge in reaction because I knew that would kind of make me go back from where I came from. I didn¡¯t allow anybody ruin my dream and ambition. I didn¡¯t give anybody that right, but humanly, it does make you feel low and sad about yourself but I had a good friend support and they gave me lot of confidence.¡±
I don¡¯t think I should fear being typecast
We asked if she is feared of being typecast and becoming the poster girl to which she confidently replied, ¡°No, I don¡¯t think I should fear being typecast, because I have been offered a lead role in Street Dancer with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, even a good role in Batla House. There is no way of being typecast, because I am only going further from here. I want to use this success in different kinds of market. I want to produce and create my own content. I have been working on my music career since 8 months. I am collaborating with international artists as well. By doing all this at the end, I will become the versatile artist with many skills who knows many things. Along with this I want to act in Hindi cinema.¡±
She further added, ¡°I know, I should know Hindi and for that I have to put my best foot forward and learn the language, whatever expectations is there from me as an artist, I will make sure I give my best. Also if the industry sees you are skillful than one thing, they do explore that. Like actors are always given a chance to dance, so why not give dancers a chance to act."
Today Shahid Kapoor is celebrated as one of the best actor but don¡¯t forget he too was a background dancer
She highlighted how Shahid Kapoor was a background dancer once and today he is one of the most celebrated actor, ¡°There are so many icons who have proven this and one of the classic example is Shahid Kapoor. Today, he is celebrated as one of the best actors, be it his performance in Haider or Kabir Singh, everyone is raving about him, but don¡¯t forget he too was a background dancer at one point of time. If you give an opportunity to a dancer, they will really excel because they are able to express more. Even Kishore Kumar was a singer and not an actor and when he got a chance, he proved himself as a brilliant actor. Now imagine if we typecasted these big stars like them or even Beyonce, JLo, they would have never existed then.¡±
There are lot of actors and actresses I admire for their work, be it Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Roa and Vicky Kaushal
Lastly, we asked which actor she admires in the industry and wants to work with and she said, ¡°There are lot of actors and actresses I admire for their work, be it Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Roa and Vicky Kaushal. All these actors have surprised everybody with their brilliant performances and their choice of scripts, so I would love to work with them. Tabu and Madhuri Dixit are the actresses I look up to and it would be amazing opportunity to work with them. I just want to work with good actors and artist who are very positive about their work because I am not here to choose and pick anyone."
Keep flying, Nora.
