During a recent interview at the premiere of his new BBC series This Town, Knight reiterated Murphy's involvement in the project, stating, ¡°He definitely is returning for it. We¡¯re shooting it in September, just down the road in Digbeth.¡±

In the original series, Murphy's portrayal of Tommy Shelby earned him widespread acclaim and made him a household name synonymous with the franchise worldwide. Fans eagerly anticipated his return following his award-winning performance in Oppenheimer.

Speaking about Murphy's contribution to Peaky Blinders, Knight praised the actor's professionalism and well-deserved string of awards, stating, ¡°It was so deserved. I mean he¡¯s brilliant, and he¡¯s such a great human being and he leads the line when we¡¯re shooting and he¡¯s so level-headed and straightforward. He deserves everything he gets.¡±

While the exact release date for the Peaky Blinders movie remains unknown, production is slated to begin in September 2024, indicating a potential theatrical release in 2025.

Murphy himself has expressed his enthusiasm for the project, affirming his willingness to return to the role if the script meets his standards. ¡°If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there. Let¡¯s do it,¡± he stated in an interview with Variety.

Peaky Blinders, originally debuting on BBC Two in 2013, gained widespread popularity after being introduced on Netflix.

Although the series concluded in April 2022, Knight has been vocal about his desire to continue the narrative through a movie adaptation, which is now finally in the works.

Alongside Murphy, the film will feature an ensemble cast including Tom Hardy, Paul Anderson, Helen McCrory, and more.
