Miley Cyrus reveals her siblings were embarrassed by Hannah Montana fame & how she fixed her family without any therapy
Miley Cyrus revealed her siblings were once uncomfortable with her Hannah Montana fame and spoke about family tensions that followed her parents¡¯ divorce. Without therapy, she helped rebuild their bond through conversation, shared time, and honesty ¡ª now reflected in her music.

Miley Cyrus has opened up about the deep emotional divide within her family and how they managed to reconnect after years of strained relationships¡ªwithout ever going to therapy. Speaking on the Reclaiming podcast with Monica Lewinsky, the singer reflected on a long and difficult period marked by silence, personal distance, and healing that came the hard way.
Siblings were uncomfortable during Hannah Montana fame
Cyrus revealed that during her Hannah Montana days, some of her siblings distanced themselves due to discomfort with her fame. "Half of my family wasn¡¯t even talking to each other," she said, referring to the fractured dynamics that took hold over the years. With siblings from both of her parents¡¯ past relationships¡ªBrandi, Trace, Braison, Noah, and Cody¡ªthe situation was layered and tense.
The discomfort, she said, wasn't just due to fame. Her parents' divorce in 2022 only deepened divides, with some members leaning toward her mother, Tish, and others aligning with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley admitted she felt closer to her mother during this time.

No therapy, just effort and conversation
Instead of structured family counseling, the Cyrus family opted for informal reconnection. "Just getting everyone into a room would¡¯ve been a war," Miley said. She added, ¡°We¡¯re so messy, we didn¡¯t even do any of that,¡± referring to traditional therapy.
Rather than wait for the perfect moment or formal process, Miley took the first step. ¡°I just showed up and said, ¡®Let¡¯s enjoy the moment together,¡¯¡± she shared. That casual approach led to deeper conversations and gradual healing.
Music, reconnection, and letting go of baggage
Cyrus likened their unresolved conflicts to emotional ¡°hoarding,¡± explaining how issues had piled up over time. ¡°You don¡¯t even know where to start,¡± she said. But slowly, through honest conversations and shared time, the walls started to come down.
Now, Cyrus says she's in a better place with both her parents and her siblings. She¡¯s channeled some of that healing into her upcoming music. Her next album will feature a track called Secrets, which she says touches on the silence and truth her family avoided for years.
Miley Cyrus¡¯ honesty and initiative helped repair family ties, proving not all healing needs a therapist ¡ª just communication and time.
