Nobody Wants This has been renewed for a second season on Netflix. If you are anything like us, you may have already binge-watched the heartwarming rom-com, and well, you'd be pleased to know that it's based on a true story.
Your friendly neighbourhood Rabbi is coming back! Netflix has greenlit the second season of the Adam Brody and Kristen Bell starrer Nobody Wants This, igniting a wave of happiness among the fans of the rom-com, credited with bringing the good ol' genre back. While we were busy finding everything about Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody), we stumbled upon the true story that inspired the show, and it's all things romantic. Scroll ahead for more details.
Nobody Wants This based on a true story
As much as we may think Nobody Wants This is too good to be true, it's very much based on true events. The hit Netflix rom-com is inspired by showrunner Erin Foster's love story with her husband, Simon Tikhman, whom she married in 2019.
In a chat with Tudum, Foster revealed, ¡°This show is based on the only good decision I ever made: falling for a nice Jewish boy." ¡° But I realized that being happy is way harder than being miserable¡ªthere¡¯s nothing to complain about. So, I created this show based on all the ways that finding the right person can be so hard.¡±
Just like Joanne and Morgan, Erin co-hosts a podcast named The World's First Podcast with sister Sara Foster. And though Simon may not be a rabbi like Noah, he's a practising Jew whose strong faith in Judaism posed a strong threat to the couple's relationship.
¡°We didn¡¯t come from similar backgrounds. He came from a much more traditional place. I came from a more unconventional place. When we got together, we were like, ¡®How¡¯s this going to work?¡¯¡± Erin said on her podcast.
¡°Whoever I marry, she has to be Jewish,¡± he told Erin in the early days of their relationship. So that's what she did. Foster claimed she thoroughly enjoyed getting to learn about the various customs and practices of the religion. But contrary to real life, Joanne doesn't want to convert to Judaism, and guess what? Noah said they would 'figure' it out.
