Taylor Swift, Padma Lakshmi, Halle Berry & Other Celebs React To US Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade Ruling
Taylor Swift, Padma Lakshmi, Stephen King, Halle Berry and many others react to US Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling on Friday.
Many big personalities and Hollywood stars have expressed outrage over the recent ruling by the United States Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, which legalised abortion in the US.
The landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade judgement was struck down by the Supreme Court on Friday stripping off a woman¡¯s constitutional right to abortions.
Celebrities including Taylor Swift, Viola Davis, Stephen King, Bette Midler, Shonda Rhimes, and former US presidents Barack and Michelle Obama, have spoken out against the latest SC decision, which has left abortion laws up to the states.
Sharing her disagreement with the latest judgement of the US Supreme Court, pop singer Taylor Swift wrote on Twitter, ¡°I¡¯m absolutely terrified that this is where we are ¨C that after so many decades of people fighting for women¡¯s rights to their own bodies, today¡¯s decision has stripped us of that.¡±
Roe v. Wade, judgement, gave women in the U.S the complete right to an abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy while restricting their rights after that. Abortion in the US has been legal in some way or the other under Roe, however, access to abortion reduced in many countries over the years.
"I¡¯m outraged! What the supreme court has done is BULLSHIT. Something has to be done! Guns have more rights than women. Stop this war on women & keep your laws off of our bodies. We have to ban together & NOT accept this! We can¡¯t just post about it, we must DO SOMETHING about it," actress Halle Berry wrote.

"Today¡¯s Supreme Court ruling overturning #RoeVsWade will have deadly consequences, with the harm falling hardest on people of colour who already face disproportionate discrimination in our country and grapple with a severe maternal mortality crisis," Alyssa Milano wrote.
Actress Padma Laksmi also voiced her opinion regarding the judgement. She tweeted, "Our rights are on the line. If we lose Roe v. Wade tomorrow, please bookmark this nationwide abortion access map.

People will still get abortions.

These procedures won't stop just because Roe v. Wade is overturned.
This will only prevent safe, legal abortions from taking place.
Barack Obama-Michelle Obama Voices Against US Abortion Laws
Even former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama took to social media to voice on the matter. "Today, the Supreme Court not only reversed nearly 50 years of precedent, it relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues¡ªattacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans." the ex-US president wrote while Michelle Obama shared a long statement on Twitter stating that she's "heartbroken."
