Joaquin Phoenix¡¯s Joker received an eight minute standing ovation and a Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival. But there¡¯s another movie that is making headlines at the festival for it has turned out to the most controversial movie.
Holocaust movies are generally controversial for the horror they depict. However, this one titled The Painted Bird has taken things to a whole new level.
It is now being called as the Venice Film Festival¡¯s most controversial movie. When it was screened at the festival, many people walked out of the film because they were horrified with its graphic scenes of violence, sexual assault, mutilation and bestiality.

What is the story about? The story of The Painted Bird revolves around a teenage boy who is left in the care of an elderly woman by his parents during the World War II. When the woman dies, the boy is left wandering in different villages and comes across many horrifying characters.
For instance, one of the scenes depicts a character gouging out the eyes of a teenage boy. This scene in particular led many people to walk out of the film at the screening.

The Painted Bird is based on 1965 novel of the same name by Jerzy Kosinski, who claimed that the book is autobiographical. However, later it turned out that wasn¡¯t the case.
The release date of the movie hasn¡¯t been announced yet.
