Why Monkey Man's release date has been postponed in India?
As per a report on The Hindu, Venki Manickam, a Texas-based engineer, who watched the film said that saffron banners in the movie were changed to red. "But the flags are still saffron. That looks exactly like BJP insignia," he said. Is the politics of the film the reason for the delay in the release?
I¡¯ve seen this film and (a) don¡¯t remember what colour the flags were, but (b) it doesn¡¯t matter because everything the evil politicians said & did reminded me of the Hindu Nationalists. It was so clearly a version of the BJP that the colour was effectively irrelevant. #MonkeyMan https://t.co/lQolSFE083

Monkey Man Twitter Review
Meanwhile, fans from across the world cannot stop raving about the movie.
After watching the film a user wrote on X, "#MonkeyMan a mostly fantastic action drama with incredible visuals & superb editing. Has slightly uneven writing & English dialogues that feel unnatural in an Indian setting. But, most importantly, it¡¯s not just a bloody action film but a political statement."
"YOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I just got out of #MonkeyMan and Holy shit!!!! Dev Patel, the man that you are! The actor that you are! The director that you are! This is your directorial debut?!?! What!!?! Huh?!?! And this was just going to do straight to Netflix? Absolutely not," one of the users wrote.
Another one said, "Dev Patel debuted with something so much more profound and cathartic than I could have expected with #MonkeyMan. There was so much felt and said. Deeply soulful action-thriller. I am so excited to see what else he directs but I¡¯m even more excited to see him do action again!".
"Dev Patel has given us the ol¡¯ one-two punch with his directorial debut Monkey Man. He¡¯s proven here that he¡¯s got the chops to be a bonafide action-star and a skillful kinetic-action filmmaker. It¡¯s not without its faults but for a first-go #MonkeyMan was a genuine joyride of visceral revenge-fuelled action. And surprisingly more LGBTQ+ positive than I ever could¡¯ve anticipated," said another one.
For the unversed, Patel has developed the movie from his original story. He wrote the screenplay along with Paul Angunawela and John Collee.
