Aamir Khan mentioned Suriya while promoting Ghajini
Suriya is busy promoting Kanguva, one of the biggest Tamil films of the year. The fantasy drama features Disha Patani as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with the Singam star. In a video for IMDb, Suriya told Disha that he is grateful to Aamir Khan for making the Hindi audience aware of his work. He revealed that ¡®Mr Perfectionist¡¯ mentioned his name extensively while promoting Ghajini in 2008.
¡°Usually when a remake film is done, the original actor or the cast and the directors, they are not discussed. But for the first time, I think, Aamir sir made sure that he spoke about the film and spoke about all the actors and the director. Even before anybody could speak about me, I think he was solely responsible for people up north, people who don't speak Tamil, to know about me,¡± he said.
The 2008 blockbuster was a remake of Suriya¡¯s cult action-thriller of the same name. Interestingly, Ajay Devgn¡¯s Singham too was a remake of the Tamil star¡¯s action drama Singam. Similarly, John Abraham¡¯s Force was an adaptation of Kaakha Kaakha.
