Netflix's new K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines has claimed the title of the highest-rated K-drama on IMDb. Despite having only eight episodes released so far, the series, starring IU and Park Bo Gum, has not only topped the charts in Korea but also made its way into the Netflix Global Top 5 in the non-English show category, securing the number 1 spot in Korea and the number 2 spot in India.

As of now, the show has released eight episodes, with the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth episodes all receiving an IMDb rating of 9.7. The fourth episode holds an average rating of 9.5, while the third episode has earned a rating of 9.4. Episodes 1 and 2 were rated 8.6 and 8.5, respectively.

These ratings are based on 1.9k votes, though itĄ¯s important to note that they may change as more viewers contribute their opinions.

IU and Park Bo Gum's K-drama cracks the Global Top 5 on Netflix

When Life Gives You Tangerines was released on March 7, offering a captivating narrative set in 1960s Jeju. The drama follows the life story of the rebellious yet charismatic Ae-sun (played by IU) and the kind-hearted but naive Gwan-sik (played by Park Bo-gum), spanning all four seasons.

Written by Lim Sang-choon, known for When the Camellia Blooms and Fight for My Way, and directed by Kim Won-seok, who helmed My Mister, Signal, and Misaeng, the series has been lauded for its realistic take on life.

With a production budget of ?60 billion, When Life Gives You Tangerines ranks among the most expensive Korean dramas ever made. According to K-media reports, the drama has gained immense popularity among viewers in their 40s and 50s, with 40% of its audience aged 40 and above, surpassing the teenage (6.2%) and young adult (22%) demographics.

So far, two acts of the drama have been released: the first act (Episodes 1¨C4, Spring) premiered on March 7, while the second act (Episodes 5¨C8, Summer) followed on March 14.
