Kriti Sanon Is Happy To Prove People 'Wrong' Who Thought She Was A Misfit In Bareilly Ki Barfi
Kriti Sanon proved everyone wrong and how.
"Lots of people told me before Bareilly Ki Barfi that they couldn't relate to me as the Bareilly girl. People even told Ashwiny if she's sure about the casting and now the same people are happy to see me as a small-town character and that feels great", says Kriti Sanon who has clocked 5 years in Bollywood.
Having no godfather and still making it big in Bollywood is a huge achievement and Kriti Sanon has definitely reached there. The girl who made her debut with Tiger Shroff in Heropanti is taking up small and strong roles and is being appreciated for the same. Her game-changer film was Bareilly Ki Barfi, and since then there has been no stopping. But did you know, people weren¡¯t sure that she will fit the role. But looking at the love she got her role, it's clear she proved everyone wrong.
In an interaction with the media, Kriti revealed about the stereotype people had about her and how she's happy to break them.
Kriti Will Be Seen in Comedy Films like Arjun Patiala and Housefull
Kriti will be next seen in a comedy film Arjun Patiala. Last, she was seen in Luka Chuppi with Kartik Aryan which was another romantic comedy. When asked if she has become a pro with comedy films, she replied, ¡° I am not pro at anything, I am just trying to learn and get better. I have fabulous actors around me who are very good at comedy. In Houseful too, I picked a lot from Ritiesh and Akshay who are amazing with their comic timing. I am just trying to do best I can and learn.¡±
The Actress Is Happy That Finally She Is Being Accepted And Loved
Kriti has been basking in the success with her latest releases. When asked how does it feel about the success, the actress said, ¡°Now, it feels like a lot of pressure, but I am very fortunate and glad that people have liked me and the films that I am part of. I think whenever your film does well and it connects with the audience, it somewhere gives you confidence, or maybe I am in the right track or maybe my gut feeling is sort of matching with the audience. If I am liking the script, there are chances that audiences may also like it. Success gives you the confidence to take the risk.¡±
She further added, "I am still not sure what I am picking is right, I might do something which audience may not like in majority, but I just feel like going with your gut feeling is the only way, there is no formula to a hit film.¡±
Kriti Talks About Doing Small Town Characters Especially After Bareilly Ki Barfi
Kriti has become directors favourite when it comes to playing small town girl characters, when asked about the same, she said, ¡°When you do a film, you don't see it as a small town or a big town role, you see the story and that¡¯s what I was just seeing. I have already done those 'chiffon and net saree dance in the snow' type films. I think as an actor you need to variate, for me when I heard Barielly Ki Barfi and Bitti Mishra as a character for 20 minutes, I was like I have not done something like this and I am not sure something like this might come my way again, so that what excites me. Woh character kidhar se bhi hai, it doesn¡¯t matter, haan but kabhi kabhi lagta hai, that koi film bahar kar hi nahi raha hai, saare filmein aaj kal Mathura, Gwalior mai hi likhi jaa rahi hai."
Kriti Feels Great Roles Are Important In The Film Than The Length
The actress has made sure she gets some substantial part in every film she does. In fact, lots of her film revolves around her. She isn¡¯t one of those actresses who is a mere prop in the film. When asked about it, she said, ¡° No, this film is not focused around my character it¡¯s called Arjun Patiala, even Panipat is not focused around me, ultimately it¡¯s a story , yes I do feel like your character should make a difference, even if it is four to 6 scenes, it doesn¡¯t matter, as long it¡¯s doing something to its story and it¡¯s relevant enough, it¡¯s fine, I don¡¯t think the space-time, the length of the character matters so much, aisa nahi hona chahie ki aapke character ko cut kar dia aur toh bhi story mai koi difference nahi padta then it feels like useless.¡±
The actress also revealed she is happy seeing the changes that movies are going through, ¡°Lots of films are now written on the female protagonist, I myself have got 10 offers in the last 2 months and even when I am not able to do so, I just feel great that people are writing stuff like this.¡±
Kriti Reveals Ashwiny Iyer Was Asked To Re-think About Casting Her In Bareilly And She's Glad Things Have Changed
When asked Kriti about being stereotyped for a small-town girl role, she said, ¡°It obviously feels great because lots of people told me before Bareilly Ki Barfi that I don¡¯t know how you will look like a Bareilly girl. People told Ashwiny if she's sure about casting and now the same people are convinced in seeing me as a small-town character and that feels great. I may look glamorous but I think I am very simple and middle class and that¡¯s how I have led my life and I think hair makeup and costume can make you anything.¡±
Kriti Accepts There Is Competition But Admires Her Contemporaries' Work
When asked Kriti how does she stay relevant, ¡°I don¡¯t take the pressure. Love and appreciation is welcoming. When a film does well, it give you confidence and brings you a lot of opportunities which you didn¡¯t have earlier, it gives you responsibility and you try to give your best. Talking about the competition, she said, ¡°Competition is there, I admire alot of contemporaries' work, be it Alia or Deepika, Anushka is a great actor. PC is someone I really admired for a very long time.¡±
The Actress Feels The Reason Audience Connects With Her Is Because She Isn¡¯t Fake Like Others
Talking about staying connected with the audiences, she said, ¡°I think I am not pretentious and I am not someone who really clicks a picture of food which I am not eating. There are lots of people who do that. I don¡¯t fake it, I am just real and I think that keeps my audiences connected with me.¡±
