Newtopia trailer: Actress Jisoo returns as cute girlfriend in 'zom-com' K-drama; BLACKPINK fans rave about her 'range'
Jisoo of BLACKPINK will star in a new K-drama titled Newtopia, and the first trailer of the upcoming series was shared by makers on January 7. The drama features Jisoo as Young Joo, who attempts to reunite with her boyfriend, Park Jung Min, after a zombie outbreak.
Prime Video on Tuesday dropped the highly anticipated trailer of Jisoo, a member of the girl group BLACKPINK, and Park Jung Min-starrer Newtopia. The upcoming Coupang Play original K-drama stars Jisoo and Park as ex-lovers who try to reunite after a zombie outbreak. It is scheduled to premiere on Coupang Play and Prime Video on February 7, 2025.

On January 7, Prime Video offered a first glimpse into the world of Newtopia, unveiling a thriller trailer that introduced BLACKPINK's Jisoo as Young Joo and Park Jung Min as Jae Yoon. The trailer kicks off with the couple on the brink of a breakup, but their personal struggles are suddenly eclipsed by a catastrophic zombie outbreak that changes everything between them.
As the apocalypse unfolds, the former lovers forget their quarrels and attempt to reunite. Young Joo finds herself fighting for her life as her car is overrun by zombies, while Jae Yoon's unit is swarmed by a massive horde of undead at a towering skyscraper in Seoul.
The story shifts between the sleek high-rise buildings of downtown Seoul and the chaotic streets of Gangnam as the couple navigates the treacherous new world. Aside from intense chills with a dash of romance, the trailer also offers a unique blend of humor, as characters navigate this new world, which feels like utopia.

Actress Jisoo makes a comeback with Newtopia!
Beyond her singing and performing talent, Jisoo proved she is also a skilled actress with her critically acclaimed performance in the 2021 melodrama Snowdrop, also starring Jung Hae In. Newtopia marks her return to acting after four years, presenting her side of her as she tries her hand at a fresh genre.
But Newtopia is not all that she has on the acting front this year. The actress will also be featured in The Prophet: Omniscient Reader, joining an ensemble cast, including Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, and Chae Soo Bin.

At the event, Park expressed his admiration for Jisoo and called it a great opportunity to share the screen with her. He said, "I think the heavens have given me all the luck I need. It's amazing that I can film with such great people like Jisoo. It's great luck."
Meanwhile, director Yoon Sung-hyun praised Jisoo, saying, ¡°Jisoo¡¯s eccentricity and humor were 99% in sync with the ¡®Yeongju¡¯ I saw in the script, and she expressed it better than I had imagined as the ¡®Yeongju.¡¯¡±
