Not Just RRR & Kantara, These 11 Indian Films Are Also Eligible For Nominations At Oscars 2023

Oscars 2023 is around the corner and both audiences as well as would-be-nominees are excited as to who will bag a spot in the esteemed list. Where India has multiple forerunners willing to get enlisted, a recent development has cleared some air. The list of 301 feature films deemed eligible for nominations at the Oscars is out now.

It is a proud moment for us that in the esteemed list, India has 11 projects running to score a nomination. The final nominations will be announced on January 24th after 9,579 eligible voting members will fill out their ballots between January 12 and January 17. The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

1. All That Breathes: This Shaunak Sen directorial explores the connection between the kites and the Muslim brothers who help them return to the skies, offering a mesmerizing chronicle of inter-species coexistence. 2. Gangubai Kathiwadi: Starring Alia Bhatt in lead, this yesteryear drama is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film based on a book explores the story of a real-life courtesan who registers herself in all good and bad books of history. The film was released to positive reviews in India. 3. Iravin Nizhal: Helmed by R Prathiban, this film was an independent Tamil initiative by the creators. The film entered the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for being the first Asian non-linear single-shot film. 6. Last Film Show: Pan Nalin¡¯s Chhello Show garnered appreciation for its rooted theme to the rural shades of India. The film also happens to be India¡¯s official entry to the Oscars this year. 7. Me Vasantrao: This biographical Marathi drama is based on the life of popular Indian classical musician Vasantrao Deshpande. Directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari, the film starred Rahul Despande and Kaumudi Walokar in lead. Watch the trailer here:-

8. Rocketry- The Nambi Effect: Another biographical drama on the list. Led by actor R Madhavan, the film explored the life of Nambi Narayanan, a scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation, who was accused in the ISRO espionage case and later exonerated. Here¡¯s the film¡¯s trailer:-

9. RRR: This grand and glorious Telugu drama is a SS Rajamouli product. After garnering appreciation from multiple global personalities, the film finally started running to win a nomination at the Oscars. Starring JR NTR and Ram Charan, here¡¯s where you can see its trailer:-
