2. Dunki release date
While rumours were abuzz that Dunki's release date has been pushed to 2024 after Jawan and Pathaan's success this year, SRK denied the claims and confirmed that the film will be released around Christmas. Dunki's release date is December 22, 2023.

"God has been kind to me this year ¨C first Pathan, then Jawan! What is Dunki about? As Shah Rukh Khan revealed himself, it is "a story of people who want to come back home... when you finally get the calling."

Furthermore, he added, "It is a comic film. His (Rajkumar Hirani) films are always a mix of comedy and a lot of emotions, and about the country. So, it is a big journey film, and it goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home to India."
4. Why the film is titled Dunki?

The plot is based on a term called donkey flight, used by Indian migrants to obtain a tourist visa for a Schengen-zone country in order to enter the UK through the back door.
5. Dunki star cast
Along with SRK, actress Taapsee Pannu is also playing a pivotal role in the film. This is her first collaboration with Hirani as well as SRK.

Talking about the project, Taapsee told Indian Express, "I feel so happy that this has happened purely on the basis of credentials and talent. Nobody picked up the phone for a recommendation. I got the film only because someone liked I what did."
About working with SRK, she said, "I have to pinch myself every day to believe that this is happening. I have grown up watching his (Shah Rukh¡¯s) films. For me, Shah Rukh Khan is the introduction to Hindi films. So just standing next to him in a frame is surreal. I just hope I don¡¯t mess it up."
6. Dunki first look
Shah Rukh Khan shared an update on Dunki when he wrapped up the shooting in Saudi Arabia and thus revealed his first look from the film.
In the video, he says, "There is nothing more satisfying than completing a shooting schedule as is with Dunki here in Saudi. So I want to thank Raju sir and the rest of the cast for making it look so lovely. Special thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Films here in Saudi for giving us such spectacular locations, amazing arrangements and warm hospitality. So, a very big Shukran (Thank you) to all. On to the Red Sea Festival."
7. Dunki shooting locations
Apart from Saudi Arabia, SRK also shot for the film in Kashmir, where he was welcomed with a shawl and a bouquet of flowers as a mark of respect and gratitude. He reportedly shot for a song in Sonamarg.

9. Dunki box office clash
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was also supposed to release around the Christmas weekend. However, the makers have now pushed the release to April 10, 2024.
Not just that, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathy starrer Merry Christmas' release date has been postponed to Dec 15 now. Pushpa 2's release date was also said to clash with Dunki, but turned out they were mere rumours.

Well, the makers have always said that it's an original film. However, some people on social media think that the Rajkumar Hirani film is inspired from Dulquer Salmaan's CIA, which revolves around a communist from Kerala who travels to the United States illegally via Latin America and Mexican border to get to his girlfriend Sarah in time before she is forced to marry another person.
For the unversed, CIA is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language adventure film directed by Amal Neerad, also starring Karthika Muralidharan in the lead role.
