From TV to films, meet Lakshay, the 'Kill' actor who is being hailed as Bollywood's new rising star

After a long wait, Lakshya aka Laksh Lalwani has finally made his debut with Kill, a film being hailed as the most violent Indian movie ever and has already become the talk of the town. Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, the movie which is soon going to get a Hollywood remake soon also stars Raghav Juyal, Tanya Maniktala, Ashish Vidyarthi and Harsh Chhaya. Three film deal with Dharma
For the unversed, Karan Johar was supposed to launch Lakshya about nine years ago. The actor had signed a three-film deal with Dharma Productions but two of these three film couldn't see the light of day.

The film that was supposed to launch him in the industry was Dostana 2, also starring Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan. Years ago, Karan Johar had even made an official announcement about the film. However, he later announced the decision to recast for the film aftera reported tiff with Aaryan, and so, the film was shelved.
Bedhadak
The second film was Bedhadak, which was supposed to launch Shanaya Kapoor alongside him. Even for this film, an official announcement was made, and later the movie was shelved indefinitely.
Kill
The third film he had signed was Kill, which has been released this month and is winning praises from celebrities, critics and fans alike.
A TV-actor turned Bollywood Hero
Not many people know that Lakshya made his acting debut on television. He was seen in Warrior High in 2015. He also appeared in Humari Adhuri Kahaani Hamari and did an episode of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. He was then cast as Veer Mehra in Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil (2016¨C2017). He also did a historical TV show Porus between 2017¨C2018 in which he played the lead role. After working for six years on small screen, Lakshya has finally made his Bollywood debut.

How Lakshya prepped up for Kill?
Talking about his extensive preparation for the film, Lakshya said, "The prep for the action went on for about 7-8 months. We used to practice martial arts, for 4-5 hours every day, with no days off. I used to rehearse every day with forty goons, fighters, and my co-actors, and there are 40-45 killings in the film, so we used to train accordingly. We used to practice day in and day out, with no days off, no cheat days, no cheat meals, no bunking, nothing at all, everyone came and worked hard."
Talking about his physical transformation and how he tortured himself, he said, "I tried to build a good physique so it took a lot of hard work. I was on a very strict diet, eating 2500 calories every day, and that too was fluctuating, with eating the right amount of protein, carbs and fats. I was working out for two hours and then going for my 6-7 hours of martial arts training. I used to do twelve hours of shooting, two hours of workout, 15-16 hours of work and that went on for a good 80-90 days, and I was genuinely torturing myself.

"My character in the film, Amrit, goes through a very massive personal loss, and because of this, he does what he does. So to justify that, I was torturing myself. I was purposely sleeping less, just so that my eyes looked puffy the next morning. I was doing all those stupid things to keep me in a certain state of mind, in a certain zone. I was only watching dark cinema like Chernobyl, and listening to Arooj Aftab, a Pakistani singer who won a Grammy, I used to listen to her songs and all those things helped a lot. I stopped meeting my friends, I stopped talking to my family because I wanted to stay in a certain state," he told Times Now.
