Indira Krishnan As Kausalya, Ravi Dubey As Laxman: Here's The Cast For Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana

After the Adipurush debacle, fans are looking forward to watching Nitesh Tiwaris' three-part Ramayana, which he said will be appealing to both kids as well as the older generation. Who will play which role in the movie based on the Sanskrit epic from ancient India? Here are seven actors who have reportedly been confirmed for the film.

The actress known for her role in films like Tere Naam and TV shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Indira Krishnan is all set to essay the role of Kausalya in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan. The actress who played the role of Geetanjali's (Rashmika Mandanna's) mother in Animal almost confirmed the news after resharing an article speculating the same. The ETimes article said, "The makers have casted veteran actress Indira Krishnan to play the role of Kausalya, who was the biological mother of Lord Rama. The actress was also last seen in action-thriller film Animal, which also featured Ranbir. In that movie she played Rashmika Mandanna¡¯s mother and shared a great report with the starcast. People loved her professionalism and appropriated her acting and kind behaviour. It was Ranbir, who suggested her for the role."

Arun Govil as Dasharatha

Now, the reports suggest that Arun Govil, the man who played the role of Lord Ram in Ramayan has been approached to play King Dasharatha in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan. Earlier, it was said that Amitabh Bachchan would play this role.

Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha

If reports are to be believed, another celebrity has joined the cast of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. The latest one to join the bandwagon is Rakul Preet Singh who will essay the role of Ravana's sister Shurpanakha in the trilogy. The character is imperative to the story as it was Shurpanakha who changed the course of Ramayana and brought Lord Ram and Ravan face to face. The film is currently in it's pre-production stage and the shooting will likely begin in March 2024. As per the reports, the film might hit the theatre screens in March 2025. However, an official confirmation on the cast as well as the release date is awaited.

Vijay Sethupathi as Vibhishan

According to fresh reports, the makers of the movie have approached Vijay Sethupathi, recently seen alongside Katrina Kaif in Merry Christmas, for the role of Vibhishan. "Nitesh recently met Vijay and took him through the script and the world he¡¯s looking to create," an insider told Pinkvilla. It is said that the Tamil superstar is keen on playing the role. "Vijay was blown away by the narration and the visuals planned. He has shown interest in the film," the source added.

Bobby Deol as Kumbhakarna

Although an official announcement is awaited, if reports are to be believed, Bobby Deol will likely join the cast of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. As per a report on Pinvillka, the makers have approached the actor who is basking in the glory of his last release Animal. He has not given his consent as of yet.

Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi

Additionally, the report also suggests that Lara Dutta has also been offered the role of Princess Kaikeyi, the third consort of King Dasharatha. It's a pivotal character as it leads to the entire conflict in Ramayana. The actress has shown her excitement for the project, but is yet to sign the official papers.

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram

After Hrithik Roshan walked out of the project for reasons best known to him, Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly been roped in to play Lord Ram in Ramayana. As per the latest reports, he is going to quit alcohol and meat to prepare for the role spiritually and thus align with Lord Ram's purity.

Naveen Polishetty as Laxman or Ravi Dubey as Laxman?

Earlier it was said that Indian actor and screenwriter who has mainly worked in Telugu movies Naveen Polishetty's name was doing the rounds for the role of Lord Laxman in Nitesh Tiwari's three-part Ramayana. It was said that the actor who made his Hindi debut in Sushant Singh Rajput's last theatrical release Chhichhore wasn't the first choice reportedly. Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda who is making his debut with Zoya Akhtar's The Archies was approached for the role but he walked out as he didn't want to play second fiddle to Ranbir reportedly. Agastya already has another more film lined up - Ekkis with Sriram Raghavan.

Now, it is said that TV actor Ravi Dubey has been selected to play the role of Laxman in the movie. According to a report on ETimes, the actor known for TV shows like Jamai Raja, Udaariyaan and Kumkum Bhagya among others has been confirmed. However, an official announcement is awaited.

Sunny Deol as Hanuman

After the grand success of Gada 2, Sunny Deol already has several projects lined up and if reports are to be believed, he has also been roped in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana in the role of Lord Hanuman. It is said that Sunny has expressed his interest in playing the role and is quite excited about it too.

Yash as Ravan

KGF star Yash who enjoys a massive fan following across the country has reportedly been roped in to play the role of Ravan. It is said that he has already taken up several look tests, post which he has been finalised for the role.

Sai Pallavi as Sita

Known for her roles in popular movies like Premam and Athiran among others, Sai Pallavi who has predominantly worked in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films has been finalized for the role of Sita. Earlier, it was said that Alia Bhatt was in talks for the role. However, it seems Nitesh Towari went ahead with his first choice.
