UI Movie box office verdict: Upendra¡¯s UI, which hit the screens on December 20, opened to a good response at the box office and collected nearly Rs 7 crore on the first day. It, however, failed to keep the momentum going and witnessed a massive drop once the initial buzz faded. Now, its run is over and the verdict is out.

UI disappoints at the box office

UI, one of the most talked about films of 2024, has ended its run in theatres and failed to live up to expectations. According to Manobala Vijayabalan, a trade analyst, the film grossed Rs 47 crore at the worldwide box office during its run.

He went on to say that even though it is not a ¡®big loss¡¯ venture the psychological thriller could have done better given Upendra¡¯s fan following.

¡°UI managed just ?47 cr from WW Box Office. Not a big loss, but expected more from Upendra,¡± he told Indiatimes.

The film¡¯s budget is said to be around Rs 100 crore. UI opened well but received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the screenplay. This went against it. The biggie also faced competition from Max, which hit the screens on December 25. And emerged as the top choice of the audience. These factors prevented it from reaching its potential.
