'Goosebumps Is The Word', Fans Fawn Over Ponniyin Selvan Trailer, Call It Bigger Than Baahubali

The kickass trailer of Ponniyin Selvan- Part 1, a Mani Ratnam (the man behind movies like Roja, Guru, Raavan and Dil Se among others) film was launched yesterday and people since then have been fawning over the stellar goosebump-inducing trailer.

War, love and betrayal packed in a larger-than-life trailer, Ponniyin Selvan- Part 1 narrates the story of India¡¯s greatest empire, the Cholas.

The trailer begins in the voice of Kamal Haasan who says, "A thousand years ago, before the golden era of the Chola empire dawned, a comet appeared in the Chola sky. The Oracles predict that the comet would claim the life of someone from the Royal family of the Cholas. Rivals surround the kingdom. The sea grows turbulent and treachery invades the Chola palace."

At the grand trailer launch event, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won people's hearts by touching Rajinikanth's feet and running towards her Guru Mani Ratnam to greet and hug him.

People are hailing her for embracing Indian culture and respecting elders.

"Unlike Baahubali and RRR, Ponniyin Selvan's selling point is not VFX, its the story, the plot, the multi-layered characters, and every character is important. There are no villains in this story, everybody is right in their perspective," a fan commented.

At the event, she called Mani Ratnam her Guru, and said, "Mani Ratnam is my guru and he will always be my guru... Forever. I started my journey with him with Iruvar and thanks for the honour yet again. This film will he forever memorable. Thank you Suhasini for being there for me always. It is a dream moment to sit together with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan."

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is reportedly playing double roles in the movie.

For the unversed, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth were the chief guests at the event. The entire cast of Ponniyin Selvan- Part 1 - including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala anddirector Mani Ratnam were present at the event too.
