Rahul Bose was charged Rs 442 for two bananas at luxury hotel JW Marriott in Chandigarh. An enquiry was ordered by Deputy Commissioner and Excise and Taxation Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar. A show-cause notice has been sent to the JW Marriot asking it to explain by Saturday as to why GST was charged on a tax-free item.
Some things are really expensive and for no rhyme or reason. As if paying about five hundred bucks for popcorn in movie theatres wasn¡¯t enough, Rahul Bose went bananas after he was charged Rs 442 for two bananas at luxury hotel JW Marriott in Chandigarh. And rightly so!
When he shared a video explaining what happened and questioned the logic behind such a bizarre policy, the entire nation took notice of it. So much so, that an enquiry was ordered by Deputy Commissioner and Excise and Taxation Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar.

Reverse Rahul Bose moment: Was in Bengal recently. My colleague and I had tea from a road side joint. Gave him a 20. The shop owner asked for 4 Rs. I thought, Rs. 12 for tea was expensive. The shopkeeper returned the 20.
