The entire internet has been buzzing with the same question ever since Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane's 2016 film was re-released in theatres after almost 9 years. Well, prepare your hearts for even bigger heartbreak and another romantic-tragic saga as the sequel of Sanam Teri Kasam is actually happening. It was officially confirmed by the makers in 2024.
What's the update on Sanam Teri Kasam 2?
Harshvardhan Rane who his acting debut with this 2016 film will be playing the role of a lover again in its sequel. It was announced on September 10, 2024, with an Instagram post which featured Rane standing next to producer Deepak Mukut. The buzz is strong that following the success of the film's re-release, the first glimpse of the sequel would arrive anytime soon and Sanam Teri Kasam 2 might eventually hit theatres by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
Will Mawra Hocane return in Sanam Teri Kasam 2?
There is no official confirmation of it and it is highly doubtful that she would even return. The Pakistani actress made her Bollywood debut with this film and was appreciated largely. However, soon after Indian forces imposed a ban on Pak actors following the unfortunate surgical strike. Ever since then no artists across the border had ever worked in Indian projects and might not anytime soon. An official cast announcement of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 would clear some air on this.
For the unversed, hilarious chaos erupted in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam on re-release day (7th February 2025) as many people thought that the sequel had been released. They turned up in huge numbers to watch Sanam Teri Kasam 2 but sadly sat through the 2016 version. Though they wholeheartedly enjoyed it, the crowd confronted the theatre owners about the confusion and made it to headlines.
