Year Ender 2024: 9 eagerly awaited Tollywood movies to look forward to in 2025

The year 2024 was an eventful one for fans of Telugu cinema. The Prabhas-led Kalki 2898 AD emerged as a blockbuster and received rave reviews from all corners. Similarly, Pushpa 2 proved to be ¡®wildfire¡¯ at the box office and helped Allu Arjun consolidate his standing as a pan-India star.

Relatively smaller films such as Lucky Baskhar and KA too managed to impress the audience despite releasing amid less hype. The year ahead promises to be just as exciting for Tollywood as the one gone by. Here is a look at some major films to look forward to in 2025.

Game Changer

Ram Charan plays the lead role in Game Changer, a political action drama about an honest government officer¡¯s fight against corruption. The film is directed by Shankar, best known for delivering blockbusters such as Indian and 2.0, and marks his first collaboration with the ¡®Mega Power Star¡¯.

The cast of Game Changer includes Kiara Advani, Jayaram, SJ Suryah, and Anjali. Its budget is said to be around Rs 300 crore. The film is set to hit the screens on January 10.

Daaku Maharaaj

Featuring Balakrishna in the lead, Daaku Maharaaj is an actioner that explores the adventures of a daring robber as he tries to continue his terror of terror. Directed by Bobby, it is touted to be a treat for the mass audience. Bobby Deol and Pragya Jaiswal essay key roles in Daaku Maharaaj, which is set to open in theatres on January 12.

Sankranthiki Vasthunnam

Venkatesh plays the role of a former army officer in Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, a family comedy drama with a liberal dose of romance. The film is directed by Anil Ravipudi, who previously teamed up with Venky for F2 and F3. Sankranthiki Vasthunnam is set to hit the screens on January 14.

Thandel

Naga Chaitanya will be seen alongside Sai Pallavi in the Bunny Vas-produced Thandel. The action drama is directed by Chandoo Mondeti and explores the challenges faced by fishermen from Srikakulam. It is set to open in theatres on February 7.

The film's budget is nearly Rs 75 crore.

The Girlfriend

The Girlfriend is a romantic drama that features Rashmika Mandanna in a new avatar and explores the complex nature of relationships. The film is directed by Rahul Ravindran and presented by Allu Aravind, the film is slated to hit the screens on February 14.

Kubera

Nagarjuna will be seen with Dhanush in Kubera, a Telugu-Tamil bilingual about the journey of a beggar. It explores themes such as greed, moral dilemmas, and ambition.

The cast includes Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh. Kubera is expected to hit the screens in February. According to reports, its budget is around Rs 120 crore.

The Raja Saab

The Raja Saab, which features Prabhas in a number of different getups, is a horror comedy with mass elements. The film is directed by Maruthi and is expected to help ¡®Darling¡¯ experiment with his reel image. The Raja Saab features Malavika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal as the leading ladies. The biggie is slated to open in theatres in April.

The film has been shot on a budget of Rs 450 crore.

Kannappa

Vishnu Manchu will be seen as the titular character in this highly ambitious devotional drama about the life of Kannappa, a devotee of Lord Shiva. The pan-India film is expected to features action scenes as well as elevation sequences. Its cast includes names such as Mohan Babu, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, Mohanlal and Prabhas.

Kannappa , shot on a budget of between Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 crore, is set to open in theatres on April 25.

OG

Director Sujeeth, who rose to fame with the Prabhas-led Saaho, is set to enthrall the audience with OG. The Pawan Kalyan-led gangster drama is set in Mumbai and centres on a features kingpin. Going by Sujeeth¡¯s brand of storytelling, it is expected to have punch dialogues and stylish chase sequences. The cast includes Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, and Arjun Das. OG is expected to hit the screen on a yet-to-be decided date on 2025. The film's budget is around Rs 250 crore.
